I had the pleasure of serving with 18 others from Grace Church, as we partnered with Hunger Corp. It was my 5 mission trip to Puerto Rico.
I’m still processing what God taught me and how I saw Him. But I can at least share a few pictures. People, food, fun.
Our team
Carlos cooked paella on site for our first meal.
The start of the work on Francisco’s house.
Magaly (on the left) is Francisco’s daughter. She worked A LOT with us, and was an expert. She has a background in construction (building $1 million+ homes not far from where she lives).
Where we finished, and where the next team will pick up. That’s over 400 cinder blocks laid for the foundation, and a lot of hand-mixed cement.
Sunrise not far from our hostel.
A visit to El Yunque (the only tropical rainforest in the USA)
Also from El Yunque. I still haven’t been to the very top of the mountain. Next time!
I’m one of the few Americans who like Malta India. Here I am enjoying one with Viktor and Steven.
Hunger Corp arranged for a salsa lesson by the river, taught by a real instructor.
I found, and flew, a kite in Old San Juan, before giving it to a little girl and her family.
My last meal in Puerto Rico. Salmon Criolla.
A treat from earlier in the week. Creme Brulee Cheesecake. To die for! This and the criolla are from Blooming Cup. If you’re ever in or near Dorado, PR, you have to go. The owner, Senora Bianca, is a wonderful woman!
